Upon my arrival I met Paulette & Chip, the owners of Prospect Farm. I was toured around their incredible 2100-hectare property where I got to see the different corners of the farm and glimpses of the 8000 stock of sheep that roam on it.
I captured a few of their accommodations, the surrounding landscapes, portraits, as well as their beautiful home, but my main focus was Prospect Cabin.
The cabin is situated roughly a kilometre from the main country road, meaning all I could hear were the birds, the livestock, the wind and my own breath. Complete bliss. The porch overlooks the valley where I watched the day cycle. Cattle came and went, the sun snuck its way through all the windows and washed over the mountains into the valley while a scent of fresh country air filled my lungs.
As night fell, the crystal clear sky made way for the stars to shine with total freedom. I stood outside jaw wide in complete disbelief of the rich black ceiling with sparkling stars, Milky Way and the southern lights, bathing in deep gratitude for where I was and how lucky I am to call this work.
After a serene sleep, I woke to the sun rising through the window, hearing the birds and animals start to get busy for the day. I lit the wood stove and had my coffee on the porch as I waited for the sun to heat up the land.
As I slowly packed up gear for my next adventure, I couldn’t help but obsess over the feeling of being so attached to this cabin and valley in such a small visit.
Paulette and Chip were amazing hosts and were such an incredible pleasure to work with. Extremely hard working, dedicated and full of light, these two take care of the entire farm + accommodations themselves. To have had these few days with them on their farm was transformative and inspirational to see how high the bar can really go.
Thank you Duncan family for having me and I’ll cherish these days and photos forever.
